ABANDONED AMERICA
I first started photographing abandoned buildings in April of 2020, about two weeks after my job shut its doors for the COVID-19 pandemic. I had nothing to do and nowhere to be, and a forgotten, quietly rotting psychiatric facility seemed like a good place to not run into anyone. I didn’t realize then that Letchworth Village would would ignite in me such an interest for urban exploration. Nor did I know it would become only the first of many stops on a journey to document what’s left of America’s former institutions for the mentally ill.
Below are just a few photos from my series, Their Names Known Only To God, which I hope to publish in 2026.
